Breen, Michelle and Moloney, David (2024) Let’s talk GenAI – A practical and collaborative approach to introducing Gen AI to staff and students. In: Higher Education Authority Teaching and Learning Conference 2024, Dublin.
This case study from the University of Limerick (UL) presents Let’s Talk GenAI – A Practical and Collaborative Approach to Introducing GenAI to Staff and Students (2024). The initiative comprised two coordinated strands: a five-day asynchronous staff CPD course (Let’s Talk GenAI) and a student-facing programme including a self-directed digital lesson (GenAI Essentials) and interactive workshops delivered through the LevUL Up Digital Skills Hub. Led collaboratively by the Glucksman Library and the Centre for Transformative Learning, in partnership with the Academic Integrity Unit and IT Division, the initiative aimed to build foundational AI literacy, promote ethical and responsible GenAI use, and provide practical guidance on prompt writing and disciplinary integration. The programme engaged over 200 staff and 300 students, with strong participation in discussion forums and high satisfaction ratings for student resources
