Peignen, Celine, Flynn, Maura and Harding, Nuala (2024) Unlocking Knowledge at TUS: Advancing OER Awareness, Access, and Collaboration. In: Higher Education Authority Teaching and Learning Conference 2024, Dublin.
This case study from Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) outlines Unlocking Knowledge at TUS: Advancing OER Awareness, Access, and Collaboration (2023–ongoing), led by TUS Library: Midlands in partnership with the Centre for Pedagogical Innovation and Development (CPID). The initiative advances Open Educational Resources (OER) awareness, discoverability, creation, and adoption across TUS and through the SATLE-funded DOERs in SoTL project, in collaboration with DkIT, Maynooth University, and SETU. Key outputs include the establishment of Ireland’s first dedicated OER Librarian post, development of the second-generation TUS OER Index, launch of TUS Open Press using Pressbooks, extensive staff training (198 staff participants), and enhanced integration of Open Access and OER in programmes. The project aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the National Action Plan for Open Research, and TUS Strategic Plan 2023–2026, and demonstrates measurable growth in OER utilisation and institutional culture change.
