Abstract

This case study from the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) describes Conquering AI for Effective Teaching (2024–2025 and ongoing), a professional development workshop led by the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering. The initiative supports educators in understanding artificial intelligence concepts and exploring practical AI applications in higher education, including personalized learning tools, automated grading systems, and ethical considerations in AI use. Delivered through presentations, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities, the workshop aims to equip staff with foundational AI literacy and strategies for responsible classroom integration. To date, 81 staff members have participated, with plans for continued annual delivery and expansion to undergraduate audiences.
