Abstract

This case study from RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences describes the RCSI Student Engagement and Partnership (StEP) Programme (2018–2024 and ongoing), led by the Deputy Dean for Student Engagement. The StEP programme embeds a university-wide culture of student partnership through funded Level 1 and Level 2 projects, formal StEP Agreements, and annual Student Partnership Champion Awards. Since 2020–21, 178 staff and 171 students have collaborated on over 100 partnership projects across teaching, research, institutional governance and community engagement. The programme aligns with RCSI’s strategic plan, UN Sustainable Development Goals, and national student engagement frameworks, and has received external recognition including the AMEE ASPIRE-to-Excellence Award for Student Engagement.
