Kennedy, Mary-Claire, Benini, Silvia, McGrath, Fionn and Cole, Reena (2026) Advancing academic integrity through UL’s institutional policies and procedures. In: Higher Education Authority Teaching and Learning Conference 2025, 2025, Dublin.
This case study outlines the development and implementation of a robust Academic Integrity Policy and Academic Misconduct Procedures at the University of Limerick during the 2024–2025 academic year. Led by the Academic Integrity Unit and supported by HEA SATLE Pathfinder funding, the initiative adopted a co-design approach involving staff and student representatives to align institutional policy with National Academic Integrity Network (NAIN) guidelines and principles of natural justice. Key features include clear investigation procedures, a tiered approach to minor and serious breaches, structured stakeholder consultation, and the establishment of Academic Integrity Champions within Faculties to support implementation. The initiative promotes transparency, fairness, and consistency in managing academic misconduct while embedding sustainable structures for ongoing review and institutional engagement.
