Benini, Silvia, Stone, Suzanne, Kennedy, Mary-Claire and Moloney, David (2026) AI-LIT UL: Enhancing GenAI Literacy and Academic Integrity Awareness through a UDL-Informed Student. In: Higher Education Authority Teaching and Learning Conference 2025, 2025, Dublin.
This case study presents AI-LIT UL, a SATLE Pathfinder-funded initiative at the University of Limerick aimed at enhancing Generative AI literacy and academic integrity awareness through a Universal Design for Learning (UDL)-informed student partnership model. Led by the Centre for Transformative Learning and the Academic Integrity Unit, the project engaged undergraduate and postgraduate student partners in evaluating and co-designing GenAI and academic integrity resources. Using surveys, structured evaluations, and a facilitated co-design workshop, the initiative identified priorities including clearer guidance, improved accessibility, and discipline-specific pathways. Findings indicate increased student confidence and stronger intent to use GenAI responsibly. The project is informing the redesign of digital resources, micro-credentials, and institutional guidance to support scalable, inclusive, and policy-aligned GenAI literacy across the University.
