Abstract

This case study outlines University College Cork’s initiative to establish a consistent, institution-wide approach to academic integrity. Led by the Student Records and Examinations Office, the project involved updating the Academic Integrity for Examinations and Assessments Policy to align with National Academic Integrity Network (NAIN) guidelines. Key developments include the creation of an Academic Integrity Working Group, introduction of an Academic Misconduct Register, clarification of investigation and sanction processes, nomination of Academic Integrity Representatives in each School/Department, and mandatory academic integrity training for students found in breach. Approved for implementation in the 2025/26 academic year, the initiative aims to promote clarity, consistency, and a culture of integrity across the University
