In: Higher Education Authority Teaching and Learning Conference 2025, 2025, Dublin.
This case study outlines the Inclusive Assessment Project at University College Cork (UCC), a whole-of-institution initiative supported by HEA PATH 4, Phase 2 funding. Led by the Office of the Deputy President and Registrar in collaboration with College Vice Heads for Teaching and Learning, the project aims to embed Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles into assessment design and establish a formal institution-wide Assessment Policy informed by inclusion. An initial mapping of assessment practices across 477 first-year modules identified variations in assessment volume and weighting, informing consultation workshops with 62 staff and 19 student representatives. The resulting policy promotes programme-level assessment planning, reduced assessment burden, and the expansion of diverse, authentic assessment approaches to support all learners.
