Abstract

This case study describes TU Dublin’s whole-of-university approach to embedding sustainability within student orientation. Led by the Sustainability Education team in collaboration with Student Success and Societal Engagement, the initiative ensures that all incoming students engage with structured sustainability sessions and climate action activities aligned with TU Dublin’s Sustainability Education Policy and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Since 2023, approximately 6,000 students annually receive sustainability presentations, welcome packs, student-led videos, and participate in interactive activities such as Climate Fresk, SDG Escape Rooms, and the mixed-reality game Quest: SDG. Evaluation data indicates high recall and relevance, with growing student engagement in sustainability initiatives year-on-year. The model emphasises co-creation with student ambassadors, structured delivery templates, and scalable training for staff facilitators.
