Farrell, Alison, O’Regan, Lisa and Ramputh, Tazila (2026) LEAF Initiative – Developing Teaching and Learning Leadership through the MU Education Framework. In: Higher Education Authority Teaching and Learning Conference 2025, 2025, Dublin.
This case study outlines Maynooth University’s LEAF (Leadership and EducAtion Framework) initiative, a three-year SATLE-funded project (2024–2027) led by the Centre for Teaching and Learning. The initiative aims to strengthen leadership in teaching and learning through the co-creation of an institutional Education Framework that articulates shared pedagogical values, priorities, and outcomes. Developed through advisory group collaboration, student ambassador engagement, external expert consultation, and review of 20 existing frameworks, LEAF adopts a whole-of-institution, co-creation approach. Phase 2 focuses on developing a Programme and Module Leaders Toolkit to support curriculum enhancement, with implementation and piloting underway. The initiative positions the Education Framework as a non-prescriptive reference to guide coherent, values-informed curriculum development across institutional levels.
