This case study from Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) describes a multi-phase initiative to enhance the accessibility and inclusivity of institutional information for students through the development of a Department Hub on the VLE. Led by Dr Adèle Commins, the project applied Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to simplify policies, procedures, and key information using varied formats such as FAQs, infographics, videos, and screencasts. Students were engaged as co-creators in designing and refining resources, contributing to the CASES approach (Clarity, Accessibility, Simplify, Engage, Support). Surveys and student feedback informed iterative improvements, with approximately 200 staff and 3,000 students impacted to date. The project demonstrates how co-creation and UDL-informed communication can strengthen clarity, accessibility, and the overall student experience.
