Abstract

This chapter relates insights on inter-organisational and network learning to the case study of the International Doctoral School in Global Health (known as Indigo) at Trinity College, Dublin (TCD). Indigo is a collaborative network between TCD and institutions in five African countries, as well as additional partners within the United States and Europe. The objective of Indigo is to build research and teaching capacity within African universities. First the case is presented, and then it is analysed through the lens of the literature on inter-organisational and network learning. Lessons from this experience are used to develop recommendations for those seeking to contribute to achievement of the MDGs through research and training partnerships.
