Costello, Eamon (2023) ChatGPT and the Educational AI Chatter: Full of Bullshit or Trying to Tell Us Something? Postdigital Science and Education. ISSN 2524-4868
Abstract
This commentary critically examines educational discussion surrounding ChatGPT and generative artificial intelligence. Drawing on Buddhist philosophy and critical educational technology scholarship, it considers how persuasive language and technological narratives shape expectations. The paper invites reflection on human relationships, trust, ethics and the purposes of education, rather than treating new tools as straightforward solutions to educational problems.
