Abstract

The article focuses on the development of biomedical engineering education in Ireland, highlighting the needs of the healthcare and biomedical industry sectors and associated employment trends in the country. It highlights a report of the Expert Group on Future Skills Needs which reveals a significant shortage of engineering skills in the medical device sector. A study on the range and geographical spread of undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by universities is discussed.
