Six entrepreneurial education and training programs are reviewed, concentrating on the development of high-technology/knowledge-based venture entrepreneurs. This includes an examination of the design features of entrepreneurial programs and the outcomes which accrue in terms of new projects, new ventures and employment. The analysis identifies considerable diversification in terms of: 1. delivery centers, 2. target audiences, and 3. the duration of these programs. There is a considerable convergence in terms of learning strategies, learning methods and program content. The analysis points to a healthy growth in Europe in terms of professionalism, local adaptability, and variety of program. The most important conclusions that may be made with respect to the design of such programs are: 1. a focus on a specific target population, 2. the need for balance in terms of learning strategies, and 3. a program facilitator who has the capacity to adopt a multiplicity of roles.
