Abstract

The author offers a commentary on the study Undergraduate nursing students attitude to mental health nursing: a cluster analysis approach, by B. Gough and B. Happell. He says that the nurse education context of the study is different from the position in Ireland where mental health nursing retains its specialty status and has a division of the register maintained by the Irish Nursing Board. Gough and Happell reiterates a problem in health professionals' attitudes that has a negative impact on the care for people with mental health problems.
